Le strade di confine fra due comuni, quando hanno due nomi, sono entrambi di pari importanza, non uno principale e uno alternativo.

If you have multiple names for a feature, first try to choose a rich semantic tag like any of the ones in the table (like short_name=*, old_name=*, etc.). If none of them works, choose the alt_name=* tag. If there are multiple names that do not fit, alt_name=* can be used with semicolons.

Combination with name:left=* and name:right=*
Belgium has many boundaries that follow roads, and different municipalities often opt to give different names to the boundary street, resulting in differing addresses on both sides of the road. These are mapped by adding an addr:left=* and addr:right=* tag to the way.
Example (way Komenstraat - Chemin des Quatre Rois (iD, JOSM, Potlatch2, history, XML)):
name=Komenstraat - Chemin des Quatre Rois (format "fr - nl", see language facilities)
name:right=Komenstraat
name:left=Chemin des Quatre Rois -

Ways cannot have 2 names in "name" tag, Slash / is not a valid separator

Ti ho appena fatto vedere che in questi casi le strade HANNO due nomi nel tag name, la questione del separatore che c'entra? Lì hanno usato il trattino ma a mio parere il trattino può generare dubbi perché in molti casi è parte integrante del nome
