Measuring merit in Wiki editing

Sounds like an interesting idea even though I do not know who should do all the reviewing. During my edits, I sometimes experienced situations where singular pages seemed to be guarded by users checking all incoming changes and reverting them if they deemed them wrong. On the other hand, some pages were »left alone« and nobody cared about any changes.

I absolutely appreciate the idea of locked proposal pages after voting.

I often heard that there is not enough tech staff for the wiki, this being the reason for the failure of most innovations. I therefore think that installing a maintainer for the wiki would be a great thing along with efforts to reduce maintenance requirements.

  • One option could possibly be to connect admin/moderator jobs across osm.org and wiki.osm.org (like global user blocks or interconnected spam avoidance).
  • Some processes in the proposal process could be automated (automated voting evaluation, page protection, partial post-voting cleanup, archiving …)
  • Better implementation of watchlists: I sometimes miss changes because the watchlist displays the following change only. I did not yet found a way to permanently subscribe…

I would also suggest updating admin/sysop lists. I have the feeling that there is currently only one admin available upon user request (reviewing changes, deleting pages, etc.). I do not track the admins, so I do not know whether they are still active.
