Bike Across Canada Route Network

Mapper since:
June 25, 2020

Maintaining Canada’s Bicycle Route Network through the sharing of GPS tracks and end-of-day locations from those who have biked across Canada on a self-supported tour.

The Bike Across Canada Route Network is built using the information collected from multiple self-supported bicycle trips across Canada. Created by the community, for the community.

It is estimated that between 200 and 300 self-supported cyclists do the trip each year.

You can view the whole network on RideWithGPS, the 1st main route to be added is Mainline 1, which goes across Canada.

As it’s so big, route relations would be sliced into single day-ride segments, then super relations added to connect the relations.

These are the main segments of the Bike Across Canada Route Network.
You can download the whole network here as a GPX file. https://www.facebook.com/groups/bikeacrosscanada/permalink/2899726250096642/

You can help by closely examining this proposed National Cycling Route Network of Canada and pointing out places where you think it should be re-routed so it better aligns with existing infrastructure and would be better for self-supported cyclists going across Canada. And also by writing to all levels of government asking to make improvements in cycling infrastructure everywhere.
