My main goal is making OSM more useful to people who use it to navigate the city by foot, bicycle or public transit.

Some people will use the map as-is, while others will rely on navigation apps like OsmAnd or Komoot, so it is important for the map to be planned with both use cases in mind. To me this means the map must be intuitive at a glance but also contain auxiliary data for navigation apps, such as tagging the surface type, smoothness, turn restrictions, etc.

As a secondary goal I’m also documenting accessibility features such as curbs, wheelchair/stroller ramps, and accessible parking spaces.

My guilty pleasure is finding and documenting desire paths. It is fun and they can be a valuable tool for city planners to learn how people move around the city, which will help them improve the connectivity of our streets over time.
