Grisedale

Mapper since:
December 11, 2008

Mapping in Sheffield mostly (the one in South Yorkshire, UK). Other places include areas that have whisky distilleries, canoe-able rivers or lochs and hillwalking areas. I mainly use StreetComplete for edits, on a very old slate with no direct internet connection. I usually attend the ‘Geeks in the Pub’ monthly meet-ups in Sheffield and am on Mastodon, where I follow some of the various OSM contributors around the World. Also attend EMF Camp, on the occasions when I can get a ticket.

Grisedale Tarn is in the Lake district, below Helvellyn, where, as a teenager, I first learnt something about practical surveying and mapping with the Brathay Exploration Group.

I attended the Birmingham State of the Map (whenever that was) and used to be a paid-up and voting member of OSM but stopped when the voting system wouldn’t play nicely with my security software - no taxation without representation.
