Complex Intersections, or Why We Should Get Rid Of exit_to | @RussNelson, in destination=* you should write the names of the cities which you see on the green destination signs above the motorways. mvexel posted an example imagery: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/187922/Screenshot%202014-07-03%2012.28.37.png plus example tagging: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/11830053 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/11830056 In some countries are these signs blue: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Lane_assist#Description The destination is not computable, here is an example from Germany: www.openstreetmap.org/way/143755684 The destination cities are hundreds of kilometers away from this sign. Further destination tags could be found here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Destination_details#Tagging For example: The key destination:ref=* should be used to specify the reference of the roads ahead as indicated on signposts, road markings or similar. The value of this key should be equal to the value of the key ref=* of these roads. |

Complex Intersections, or Why We Should Get Rid Of exit_to | For JOSM there’s a very helpful MapPaint-Style available called ‘lane and road attributes’ which shows destination tags and much more: http://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Styles/Lane_and_Road_Attributes |

4 826 424 "addr:country=DE" | Yes, you’re right, but how to stop this process? There are strong supporters of the idea to add useless redundant informations like addr:country, addr:postcode, … on every node although we have good borders in Germany. Maybe it would help to remove the input field from the JOSM address presets? In iD addr:country isn’t displayed. At the moment there are 6.036.685 addresses in Germany (we expect 21.000.000 addresses in Germany). |
|
4 826 424 "addr:country=DE" | There is no consensus on this topic in Germany. btw there’s a validator tool for Berlin which checks if every address has the addr:country and addr:city Tag lol: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=25001 example: http://berlinadd.morbz.de/?pid=90&sid=511 |

Elevation carving using OSM waterway data | At the FOSSGIS2014 there was a talk about routing with SRTM. There are also artifacts when there’s an area where buildings are (for example Frankfurt’s banking district:12 meter difference in altitude (but buildings are over 100 meter high)
you can see some graphics about these problems in this talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0TehKCX4Ao#t=2m45s Wouldn’t it be possible to take into account landuse=forest, natural=wood and building=yes also? |

Häuser und Adressen in Perchtoldsdorf, Niederösterreich, AT | Kennst du bereits basemap.at? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Basemap.at (Hausumrisse, Hausnummern, …)

|
Frage zu, Erstellen einer Fläche | leider nicht ganz, ich habe es mal korrigiert: in Potlatch kann man weitere Tags so anhängen: Button links unten: “Advanced” –> Add –> folgende Werte eintragen für: “(new tag)” –> area “(new value)” –> yes |
|

What happened to the Railroad=Preserved rendering | Bugs in the standard map you can report here: https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues |
|
Wrong tags on Path | It depends on the country how the tag is used. In Germany for example highway=footway is only used for official designated footways which have a sign like this: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/images/a/ab/SAM_0158.jpg Even for mountain trails. Mountain trails can be specified with http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:sac_scale When you can do mountain biking it is no highway=footway |
