can't get edit map

Me too, noticed blue screen inserted in startup sequence of potlatch2 for last couple of weeks. FF-3.6; Ubuntu 10.04. Have slow connection so mildly tolerant to these things, if they go away. It adds a few more seconds between the loading/percentage bar and background image appearing. Which is also different because the map used to appear first followed by the background. Always associated blue screens with Microsoft. I'm hoping it keeps going away.

Speed limits

It's not going to happen. Too many roads drawn without limits. Too many variations on short stretches. It is part of my mapping routine now but life is too short to go through old data, except on an as and when basis.
This arose for me in a MapDust bug about route timing. Do I treat it as a throwaway remark from an annoyed motorist with too much spare time or a valid comment? Going with the second option I have to adjust to other people using this map differently. Speed limits and thus journey times, are an issue for some. Research in the Wiki shows it is a wide ranging issue. Having trawled through the Maps page (comment above) software writers might be working towards another solution.

Skobbler

Yes, I'm with you there. I have left comments about the lack of helpful detail, then deleted the bug. I am prepared to visit my local spots for a bit of extra surveying, check the map for broken ways or wrong names. So far they are all from car drivers, or is this a default setting in the bug submission? Here, there is a trend to reporting bad timing and incorrect positions. I admit to leaving out speed limits on roads and will change that in future which might help, otherwise not a map problem. As for position this is an area of steep sided valleys and trees. Accuracy drops dramatically walking with a hand held, drivers don't hang around, do they watch the road? Seeing comments like this gives me confidence deleting poor submissions early. I promise not to be rude but patience will wear thin as this gets going.
