Allow me to say a few words, I do appreciate the effort you and your team put into this. Especially the part of coordinating ground-based validator from Africa, like myself and providing us with prompt feedback about some necessary changes that we detected and needed an adjustment on.

I also, admire the balance between AI and human participation. As with Mapwith.ai, there is a nexus of AI suggested roads, with human participation. That is human checks to see, if what the AI suggests is good enough to be uploaded, if it’s human uploads. Else, humans make the necessary changes and uploads and it waits for validation by another human.

There is always a human in the process and the human checks for quality, the human is not just being there for the sake of being there. This aspect of “humans, not AI, determine quality” is a critical component.

RapiD doesn’t take away the human-participating nature of OSM. It can’t and it’s not meant to do so. Its aim is to help reduce the burden of mapping and also shorten the time it takes to map, which I think it’s phenomenal. Mapwithai is only helping mappers map better, but the humans are always in charge.
