I am an Associate Professor and the GIS Program Director in the Geography department at Central Washington University. I study cartography, FOSS GIS technology, and Latin America, including Latinx issues in the United States.

Currently (October 2022) I am leading a research project that examines to what degree business locations are accurately represented in online maps, including OSM. As part of this project, we have conducted some field visits that have collected quite a bit of firsthand information on business locations in the following cities in the United States: Wenatchee, WA; Yakima, WA; Pasco, WA; and Caldwell, ID. Now that the project is nearing completion, we are adding the information to OSM as a service to the communities involved; these edits are not a part of the research questions or analysis.
