Ussi Abuu's Diary

Recent diary entries

My name is Ussi Abuu Manamengi, I am Tanzanian from Zanzibar, my background in computing and information processing has exposed me to the areas in a very complementing way, so it was almost natural for me to develop my career further in a field of Open Street Map(osm) through “Tanzania development trust” this is Non Government organization (NGOs) that was asked me (United Nation online volunteers) to works together in the missing maps project to facilitate their outreach works and protect girls at a risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) ,so now we come together to inspiration and commit to action that saving girls and women from practices of FGM, force early marriage and gender based violence, we uses more time and efforts for putting rural Tanzania on the map. The biggest challenge is to change mindsets for our communities and have decision makers accepts that technology helps to solve problems and push the sustainable development. The more mappers and researchers I meet in their blogs and websites I see talented and forward thinking people who are hoping to get their genius ideas in make our communities more resilient against natural disaster, political shock, and economic stresses. We want our girls and women to study, we wants them to succeed in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is in evolving at lighting speed so maintaining your hand on the pulse of the latest developments and understanding how STEM career can drive change in the most unexpected industries is absolutely keys, companies should lead by example and hire the incredible females talent that already exists in the field. My advice to other volunteers, planet leaders, educator, scientists, religion leaders, private sector leaders, government leaders and researchers we must works together to make difference for our planet and to archive 2030 Agenda for United Nation sustainable development goals, so we must works together in a peace building, economic building and social building for the good of our communities, my brothers and sisters development gains will always be at a risk without sustainable peace. Come on, together, let’s go! Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.
