Too much.

Posted by alimamo on 11 July 2011 in English.

Too much rain to do any riding so I am stuck inside using the Bing layer.

I don't know about other places, but here in Korea, although usually having better resolution than Yahoo, it is often out of alignment as much as or worse than Yahoo. And it is usually not a one quick fix solution. Now and then there are alignment errors within one imagery set, occasionally within resolutions in a set, and usually differing alignments between obviously different imagery sets.

Still, having the imagery is certainly better than not having it.

Around Daejeon

Posted by alimamo on 2 December 2009 in English.

It's starting to get darn cold here in Korea now, but I'll keep riding as long as the sun is out. Daejeon is filling in nicely, but that just means I am hitting the wall of diminishing returns. I have to go further and further afield to get new data.

Consequently, If I am not entering in new ways, I will try to clean up some of the data from the big import. Lately I have been working on highway 15, to the west. Right now it is cleaned and corrected from the end in the south to the big bridge near Pyeongtaek. Unfortunately it is easy to get distracted down another highway, fixing other duplicate roads, or cleaning up coastline data.

Previously I cleaned up 1 from the southern end up past Suwon. Closer to Seoul it gets rather complicated so I have let it for those in the area to work on for now.

Oh well, it will all get done when it gets done.

On a side note

Posted by alimamo on 23 January 2009 in English.

I have been working on Andong, Korea, too. And yes I know there are a lot of crossing ways/streets/rivers/tracks. All my data comes from the three years I lived there and all the rides and tracks I used to make my own Garmin map.

I'll slowly be adding more to the area. The road data is all good, but since it has been a year, I don't know the exact configurations and over-unders of all the crossings. I figure it is better to get the road data in now and let others in the area do the actual clean up on bridges and such. Unfortunately that might be a while in coming since Yahoo doesn't have much good imagery of that area
