I created a website that shows elevation profiles for mountain bike routes based on nasa's srtm data. It works for routes that contain connecting segments only (check http://ra.osmsurround.org/ for route errors)

Go to http://osm.santolibre.net/ for an overview map or open http://osm.santolibre.net/routeinfo.aspx?relationid=1145205 for an example.

Please use the roles 'forward' and 'backward' if you create routes that don't follow the same ways in both directions. And check that all the ways are nicely connected and in the right order. JOSM is a great tool to create routes. Read http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:route if you're not sure how to do it right.

I wrote a small script that converts a single osm relation of ways into a kml. That lets you view routes in google earth or google maps. It doesn't work with super-relations but it should work well with roles. Check it out: http://www.jrq.ch/osmrelations/

Bin ich der einzige der das Fussgängerweg-Chaos um den Bahnhofplatz in Luzern stört? Am besten würde man die ganzen highway=pedestrian einfach entfernen.
