Hi.

I would like to voice a demand for whoever is drawing all those sidewalks, crossings and doors here (west downtown Montreal), could you STOP please. This is really adding a lot of useless noise to the map. OSM is not the place for this kind of details. It will mess-up GPS devices and make the map harder to read. It adds no useful information for the general user.

In OSM, on a street way, there is a "sidewalk" field you can play with. But adding a separate way and cutting all the existing ones to add crossings every damn intersection is just too much. The sidewalk way type has been created for other purposes, for example to draw a sidewalk crossing a park when there is no street. It is not for sidewalks along a street, which are everywhere anyway.

I voice a strong objection to this work and would like to see it deleted.

Pourquoi mapper tous les trottoirs ? Il y a une utilité à ça ? Ça me semble inutile et rendre la map surchargé. On voit pas ça nulpart dans OSM dans d'autre villes à ma connaissance.
