Comment from Tomas Straupis
Reverted. iD is a very bad editor and it is making BAD advices. River tagging was good.

I agree, I was wrong.

Tomas is stubbornly using an outdated tagging scheme that conflicts with the global river modernization project. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Waterways/River_modernization for more information about these efforts to unify river tagging.

Friendly_Ghost is stubbornly LYING. He has absolutely no clue in Cartography and/or GIS and therefore is also damaging the quality of OpenStreetMap data by his careless actions. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Cartography/Waterways for improving Cartographic quality of OpenStreetMap data.

Dear Денис39 and Tomas Straupis,
I am greatly disappointed in Tomas' ad hominem fallacy. That is not a way to have a constructive discussion.
Tomas' page makes some claims that are not backed up by anything but your own words. It reeks of edit war.
To Tomas I would like to say that if they're looking for professional cartography, I kindly suggest that they do that outside this community which traditionally has always had a large number of amateur cartographers.
My apologies to Денис39 that they are now part of a seemingly unfriendly debate.
Best regards,
Intruder Ghost (as I have been called by Tomas before)

To Anonymous Ghost, nobody has invited you to this discussion, there was no point on joining it IF the only thing you can do is LIE. My Cartography waterways page claims are backed by people who have actually VOTED for the problematic water proposal and that was discussed again again in talk/tagging lists (and you know it). Contrary to the lies in Brian Sperlongano page.
And one additional note: it is perfectly fine that OSM has not a lot of professional cartographers - we are all here to learn. And it is fine to make mistakes. But it is NOT OK when clueless amateurs damage data when the damage is specifically pointed out and explained. Smart people LEARN. -

My dear fellow mapper, your project is based on a handful of comments made over ten years ago, which as I mentioned in my first message here is out of date.
You seem ignorant that natural=water + water=river is valid tagging as approved in the same 2011 proposal, in current documentation and in popular tag usage.
You may wish to learn more about the current opinions of other mappers. Feel free to ask around in different forums and other platforms as listed in the community index: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Community_index
I would very much like to know of which lies exactly I stand accused here and what damage may be done by using the tagging scheme which you oppose. This information would be helpful if we are to continue this topic.

@Ghost, mapper Денис39 has nothing to do with your lies. If you wish to re-start this old discussion again and again there are much better places to do that. So stop LYING that: 1. waterway=riverbank is (or was ever) deprecated. Stop lygint hat: 2. your proposed tagging is in any way "better" (you have no experiance to evaluate that). Stop lygint that 3. you somehow calculated "concesnus" which would be independent of a. iD forcing mappers to use LESS popular schema b. illegal (by OSM rules) mass retagging of the likes of Brian Sperlongano. You can continue this in different forum/place if there is anything else you want to learn about OSM/Carto/GIS. I see no point in continuing here as you continue to LIE and fail to provide any substantial argument/information.
