Hi Maureen
Many of the "brownfield" features mapped around Bamba are probably not appropriate for OpenStreetMap. They appear to be "service areas" for various things like schools and water points. Is that right? Let's talk soon about how we can clean this data up, so that OSM accurate shows only physical features in these areas.

Hi! are you sure about all those [brownfield](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse=brownfield?uselang=en-IE) sites? They don't look like much. Those names look a little off as well..

I've removed those "brownfield" sites, since they don't seem to be brownfields at all. If you have any questions, let me know. 🙂

Comment from Mateusz Konieczny
Hello! And sorry for bothering you about an ancient edit, but I run into it and have some doubts.
@omino - what is the point of status:operational_status=operational for https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3421461750 ?
If it would not be operational it would not be tagged as amenity=hospital ?
(also, this specific one is likely amenity=pharmacy or amenity=clinic, not amenity=hospital, right)
And for toilet:present tag: toilets=yes would be better, right? See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:toilets

Hey Mateusz -- I can speak to the tagging, as it was developed by Map Kibera. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:operational_status has details on operational_status. It was set up prior to the lifecycle tagging coming into place. Similar with toilet.
This tagging could be updated to those schemes. Are you considering doing that?

yes, https://codeberg.org/matkoniecz/OpenStreetMap_cleanup_scripts/src/branch/master/recurrent_bot_edits has draft of bot edit that will partially fix it
https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/tagging-inactive-water-wells-man-made-water-well-disused-yes-vs-disused-man-made-water-well/97827 is one of public steps intended to lead to this
(though OSMF board stuff keeps me quite busy, so no promises when it will happen)
this changeset comment was actually one of attempt to reach out to people who used such tagging and to confirm that there is no drawback in using newer tagging schemes)
