Hi Kilbert.
I have been working diligently to input crops, meadows, orchards and woods here in Lowndes county. This change set removed a lot of those updates. Can you revert these changes ?
If there is something specific that is incorrect I'll try to correct it if you let me know.
Previously it was quite a mess here in Lowndes county. Multipolys and relations very messed up. I'm still working on cleaning things up around here.

Why in the wide, wide world of sports would you be inputting crops, meadows, orchards and woods? Those things don't belong on OSM maps *unless* they actually have a proper name. Just general vegetation is pointless clutter. I've been on a mission to *remove* a whole lot of such pointless clutter all over Georgia because somebody thought it was a good idea to import some gov't data on woods, farms, and wetlands, and most of it had absolutely no correlation with reality, it just covered the entire state map with a camo paint job. I just continued when I ran into your more realistic data, sorry. But, really, don't put that garbage on there, please. Not unless it's a place with a name.

This is just plain wrong. Please stop deleting vegetation from OSM. It doesn't matter if it has an official name or none at all. This is pure vandalism.

Hi, I think there's two different situations going on here. First, Georgia (US state) seems to have a large amount of general landuse data that was added dating back to 2009 (e.g. https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/1264461). I can't comment on the quality of this data with a cursory glance, but it appears to contain only a few limited types. It's a very old import and was done before there were policies and data review. Kirbert, that seems to be what you are mainly focusing on when you talk about the camo across the state of Georgia (e.g. http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/33.7335/-83.9244). Second, aside from those, there are edits made by Joshua that were not an import but rather added based on knowledge of the area, such as some of those that have been deleted here.

Landuse and landcover are established as things that can 'belong' in OSM given their usefulness in many different disciplines and applications, regardless of whether they are named or simply describe what is literally on the ground. In fact, some areas of Europe are nearly completely covered with landuse designations. So I think the distinction is between data that is stale, was imported a long time ago, and is of questionable quality--and data that was added by a local mapper. I'm not going to make a judgment about the import data as to whether it should be removed or not (many very old imports probably should be reviewed), but good data that has been added by someone with local knowledge and is not fictional should be retained (e.g. map what's on the ground, verifiability, don't map for the renderer: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Good_practice).

I can work with Joshua to try and restore some of this locally-mapped data. If any of y'all have any questions, please do get in touch at data@osmfoundation.org.
Best,
