Hi, what is the reason for having two separate stop area relations for each line? All features belong to the same station, and a stop area relation is meant to group such features, irrespective of which line they serve. I look forward to your response, in the absence of which your changes will be reverted. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for reviewing my edits. I modified and created some relations to make subway routes conform to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Metro_Mapping — which allows them to be used in maps.me application. You can see the validation result right here: http://osmz.ru/subways/colombia.html
A stop area marks a single station. Its use is unclear in the current public transport schema, so everyone chooses their interpretation. I intend to fix it in PTv3 later this month.

First, applications conform to OSM tagging practices, not the other way around. Secondly, stop area is well defined and understood by the community. See my other comment in changeset https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/53770759 regarding stop areas

Well, 170 out of 180 metro systems in the world are tagged like this, so you can say wiki is a bit out of date. Wiki should describe tagging practices, and not go against them.

Sure, if you create a validation system with incorrect assumptions and get to the task of fitting tagging of every instance to the validator, then the numbers you cite aren't surprising :)

There is no "correct" and "incorrect" in OSM. Only tagging that people and software use or don't.
