Sorry for answer so lately, I was traveling in Bolivia.
You need to follow some rules : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:waterwaywaterbody is not approved, you should not use it
But you're right : only the central line is needed in the relation, the riverbank should not be in it. Sorry to have transform your waterbody, I should have rather deteted them.
Best regards -

If a tag is not approved yet, it does not mean that you cannot use it. The wiki only guides on commonly used tags but does not prohit you to use any other tags. Here is a quote from the proposal process page:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposal_process
"OpenStreetMap does not have any content restrictions on tags that can be assigned to Nodes, Ways or Areas. You can use any tags you like. "
Please restore the waterbody roles. -

The problem is clearly that you don't understand what the relation=waterway is.
It is to (see the link in my first answer) : "The purpose of waterway relations is to have an object for each river.".
The waterbody should not be put in the relation because it is not the purpose of a relation, only the main part of the river need to be in the relation (the body : main_stream, side_stream and spring). Exactely like if, to describ a particulary man, you was telling : this man has this kind of shoes. Shoes are an accessory, of course you can draw a man with shoes and your drawing will be better with them, but to describ what is the man you don't need it (you will tell only about his hear, eyes, size... Look at your ID card, shoes are not visible because it is not you).
To put the riverbank is great, you have done a very good job doing this because the map (the drawing) is better like that. But to put these riverbanks in the relation is a big fault meaning you don't understand what the purpose of relation= waterway is.
But I'm not embarrass by that : there are thousands of people doing the right things and, one day, another one with clean up again your waterbody.
Best regards. -

There are no main_ or side_ stream "lines" in a real world river. The lines are needed only when the waterbody is too narrow to draw or are used to denote waterway direction or to render labels along them. It is like drawing a picture of a man in some realistic shapes or a simple stick man.
