OpenStreetMap
I just did my first change in my home town, Bucaramanga, Colombia. I could not beleive that the airport was not labelled. But when checking closer, I noticed that it was there. I am not sure why I don’t see it in the map.
I hope to make many more updates in the near future!

as you mentioned the airport was already there: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/96053161 Please do not add objects several times (redundant).
The standard map style doesn’t show airport names on high zoom levels. But there are other styles who do, for example: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/7.1269/-73.1807&layers=Q

A far as I remember I did not add a polygon for the airport to make it redundant, I only added some info to the existing feature.
