Keep Right!

Posted by MagnusA on 15 February 2010 in English.

After not doing any mapping for a while, since I haven't really traveled on any new grounds that aren't mapped already around my area I started directing my attention to 'Keep Right!'. Anyone that hasn't heard about this before should really look at it.

I'm taken a little time the past few days to correct errors marked on the map by keep right! and boy, are there many crossing roads without junction nodes!

This is really something people should pay attention to since this is what OSM needs to get fixed if there ever will be any use for mapping software :)

I fully support the use of online web-based validation such as KeepRight! but also the validator plug-in for the JOSM editor which can check uploads before they get entered into the OSM database. I can't stress how important it is to have good quality data so that many thousands of people now and in the future can use OSM successfully.

I totally agree with you, Pink Duck, that everyone should use JOSMs built in validation before they actually upload any changes. This I always do myself before I apply chanegs.

But for correcting other peoples mistakes from the past, that probably didn't know how to validate or didn't use one, Keep Right! is one good system that I will keep on using when I have the spare time to sit with it.
