TrackExplorer - Visualize your GPX Data

Posted by O J on 6 November 2021 in English.

TrackExplorer

TrackExplorer is a solution based on the idea of RaceDirector. The difference is that with TrackExplorer you can use any GPX file - with or without timestamps. You can choose different activities and no matter where on earth you have recorded GPX data, the data can be displayed in an 3D environment.

TrackExplorer Quick Overview

Via the website TrackExplorer Upload you can easily upload any GPX file. If your GPX file does not have a timestamp, you can decide during the upload the speed your data should be displayed in TrackExplorer. This is necessary if you create the GPX file with a route planner – in most cases there are no timestamps available. TrackExplorer offers different activity categories. Depending on your selection, your uploaded GPX data will be displayed with your chosen activity.

After the upload was successful – your data is still checked for consistency – you can view your data in the TrackExplorer app. Either directly in your browser or in the Android app.

And this is what it looks like

TrackExplorer is for free and there are no hidden costs.

I forgot to mention that the GPX data is processed using Mapbox. The data source for streets and buildungs is OpenStreetMaps. The more accurate the data in OSM, the better the 3D environment is displayed (hights of buildings, positions of the trees, etc.). Nice example, the skyline of Chicago:

Dear community, some of you have tried TrackExplorer. Thanks a lot! If someone wants to manage his data, you can register under RaceDirector. Under My Files you can edit your data and decide if you want to show it to others. The registration runs under RaceDirector. Yes, it is a bit misleading. After this is a hobby, I don’t have the resources to keep everything clean.

Hint and advantage of TrackExplorer: You can view or compare up to tracks within a 10 kilometer radius.

There is also an TrackExplorer Android version. In this version you can increase the number of tiles (up to 12 tiles) and get even more impressive impressions of the landscape.

WRLD3D in TrackExplorer

Good news! I have added WRLD3D to the Android TrackExplorer app. You can now switch the view between Mapbox and WRLD3D. It works “only” with the Android app. Unfortunately it is not possible in the web browser version - WRLD3D does not offer this possibility. Anyway, this is how it looks in TrackExplorer:
