Posted by mutenyo joan on 10 January 2017 in Abkhazian (Аҧсуа).

i choose to dedicate two hours or more a day beginning 10/Jan/2017 til April to put an end to the worlds most killer disease in Africa which is malaria. i dedicate to add atleast 50 change sets each day i start to make edits so help me God. I believe through this i will save a pregnant mother and the children under five years because they are the most vulnerable to malaria

How does adding data to openstreetmap help end malaria?

Thank you mutenyo joan!

@PBJomel - Project 2396 is part of a collection of mapping projects to provide building footprints, as well as basemap, for the Clinton Health Access Initiative’s campaign to eliminate malaria. They will use the data to plan and conduct various malaria interventions.

Stay tuned to the HOT communication channels for more information and new projects.

Good Luck to both the mapping and the malaria actions.

Be carefull with the mapping. I have had reports of OSM data in northern Africa being misleading (roads shown don’t exist, roads going through walled compounds). Fortunately at least one of those has said they will be making changes in OSM to make it better .. using their notes of their trip.
