I had to report those reversals to DMG because it was decided by then it's not allowed to have such automated translation when there are no names of the place where it was put

There were no problems with translations in Belorussia, they are correct and actual. dont need to delete what you are not aware of.
you deleted also a lots of names in Belorussia.
> there are no names of the place where it was put
they are translations like in Ukraine are russian translations too.
-
Comment from dpolovinkin
you reverted my commits in Saint-Petersburg here, why do you talk about Belarus?
I and DWG, as I see, don't really care where are translations to Russian anywhere as we talk about Russian territories, the only thing is that if there is no name in Ukrainian in Saint-Petersburg, is can't be automatically translated, so your revert is vandalism, it seems to me.

Comment from miBoieq
I reverted back to state was before your mass deletetion. Most of your deletions were in Belorussia. Mass edits are not allowed.
In Ukraine also there are no names for most of point/streets etc, but noone deletes these names, so thats why let they be in russia too.
Dont cover yourself by fictional reasons: you just deleted a lots of translations across few countries (Belorussia, Latvia, Litva, Poland and others).
So I put them all back in place.
You not created that, so no need to decide what is right and what is not -
Comment from dpolovinkin
Most of my reversald were inside Russia, it's obvious.
Again - my question is why you restored those translations in Saint-Petersburg? we talk only about this changeset here and now.

no, they are not, most of your deletions were in Belorussia, why your changes had attention.
> Again - my question is why you restored those translations in Saint-Petersburg? we talk only about this changeset here and now.
All reverted all your deletions because of no matter what city / country, if some data is present - deletion of it is "data loss" (term of dwg)

man, just open your profile and see which territories of your reversals are most common in - its Russia.> All reverted all your deletions because of no matter what city / country, if some data is present - deletion of it is "data loss" (term of dwg)
if I add a garbage data to all the places in India or else, just for the sake of argument - would it be a "data loss" if someone will rightfully revert it? It is by your way of thought.Okay, I'm tired of discussing it, let other people handle it.

I count by elements in changesets, it doenst matter how wide is rectangle

@dpolovinkin what is the DWG ticket number? I don't see a ticket or a report for either "miBoieq" (the current name of this user) or "avinet ua") the previous name.

Hi! I wrote a report for miBoieq on 29th of July with all the details, at about 10pm European time. I'm pretty sure I've sent it, don't know...

Comment from SomeoneElse
@dpolovinkin Normally when a report has been submitted it'll be visible to moderators as open, resolved or ignored or give an error that says we're not allowed to see it because it's in the admin queue. I'd suggest submitting it again.

Comment from dpolovinkin
@SomeoneElse hi again, I think I just received the message that my request is recorded, I didn't submit it second time btw :)
-
Comment from SomeoneElse
@dpolovinkin the report appeared in our queue this morning - it looks like it wasn't processed the first time, and was hidden to search for some reason after that.

Comment from dpolovinkin
Hi again @SomeoneElse!
Wanted to ask - as this user is now blocked, but he reverted my reversals of those unneeded automated translations, so it's all kinda.. needs to be rolled back again to be correct? :) There are still thousands of places with those unneeded translations... -
Comment from SomeoneElse
Unless https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/miBoieq can provide a photograph of a place with a Ukrainian name in St Petersburg, I'd suggest that reverting this changeset was entirely reasonable.
-
Comment from dpolovinkin
yeah... but is it possible to revert all changesets of such kind of this user automatically after such a block, or do I need to do it manually again? :)
-
Comment from SomeoneElse
@dpolovinkin No, "automatically as part of a block" is not an option, I'm afraid - reverts will need to be done on a case by case or at least changeset by changeset basis.
For example, this one is St Petersburg only, and looking at an example object https://osm.mapki.com/history/way/23021763 shows that name:uk was only added in May by someone who's known not to be a St Petersburg resident, and about whom there have been complaints about poor quality translations elsewhere.
However, it may be possible to verify some of the name:uk over in https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1z2nhttps://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1z2n , for example. -
Comment from Thiskal
@dpolovinkin fyi, I noticed that the reverts performed performed have already been undone again.

As ever with these, it'd be really helpful if someone could provide evidence that a particular name does or does not appear on e.g. the front of a building, or is or is not visible.
I'd also suggest a slightly less confrontational initial approach than on https://openstreetmap.org/changeset/140296500 (currently the only comment at https://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=19874231 ). -
Comment from dpolovinkin
Agree, but as I'm not the one deleting the existing translations but people are basically adding them, it's on them to prove that there is a name in ukrainian on the building. If there is one - sure, add a tag.
But firstly I'd like to notice that this all about a mass mechanical translation effort to tens of thousands places in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Belarus. Russia is the country where there is basically only one language in use everywhere, sometiiimes English (source - I'm Russian), changesets with translations have translated hospitals, pharmacies, rivers and lakes (heh), military poligons, roads, factories, even tram parks... to Ukrainian, there is just no name for them in that language in Russia. It's simply doesn't exist... And those changesets added tens of thousands of such translations...
Well, and secondly - as I lived in Saint-Petersburg for more than 10 years, I can assure you that there is no Ukrainian (for that matter any other language apart from Russian and ocassionaly English) signs and language on buildings anywhere, none, apart from couple historical places maybe.. The same situation is in Moscow.
I can find couple of examples from Google pictures regarding some of those buildings and places, to make it completely obvious, but to be fair it's the job of someone who adds such translation to prove that it's there, not others job to prove it otherwise :) And with situation here, it's to be fair quite obvious (for someone who lives/lived in Russia) that there is no names like that enywhere.
Regarding approach, yeah, you are right, it's just so frustrating to revert this all and then it's all cancelled by the empty account without any credibility.
