A quick search shows that wifi can not be presumed at McDonalds.

I am suprised, too. McDonalds themselves are not aware of WiFi in all their branches:
"Do All McDonald's Have Free Wi-Fi?
Most restaurants offer free Wi-Fi. However, some owner-operators may choose to disable the service, and each location may have its own terms and limitations of use."
See https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/services/free-wi-fi.htmlRegarding Germany, Telekom, who privide the WiFi at McDonalds, specify: "Die schnellen Internetzugriffe per WLAN stehen Ihnen [...] flächendeckend an fast allen [!] Raststätten der Autobahn Tank & Rast Holding GmbH oder McDonald's Restaurants [!] [...] zur Verfügung."
https://geschaeftskunden.telekom.de/hilfe-und-service/mobilfunk/hotspotTelekom also only speaks of restaurants, not of the many Mc-Donald's take-aways.

I guess a revert is in order. Anyone disagree?

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late reply, only checked my emails now.
@silversurfer83 : Yes, I've read it, I can revert if necessary, and tried it on a smaller subset.
I know that i can't assume that all mcdonald's do have Wifi, that said :
- visually looking from https://www.mcdonalds.fr/restaurants, it seems that the vast majority does, I've found 3 in France over the 3000+ that are modified in the dump, I know that 1% error rate is described as not good enough, but 0.1% seemed OK to me
- As a user of Organic Maps, all locations are indicated as "without wifi" in the interface, making it false for the most part, plus if i do go in a location where wifi is not present, I can't manually set the information as "there is no wifi there" which would be useful (because it is by default assumed as not providing wifi)
Anyways, it seemed good enough for me, but if it doesn't convince you, i'd be happy to revert -

Also it may be worth to say that I only updated the nodes that didn't have any info, and left the ones that already did as they were

A revert seems to be necessary, as it clearly seems wrong information has been added, while not following the automated edits code of conduct. When no wifi information has been entered, this means wifi availability is unknown, instead of not present. Errors in the interface of any app using OpenStreetMap data should be addressed at that app, not by changing the database.
