Hi The RedBurn, this looks like an undiscussed automated edit. Because that is against the rules, I have reverted it with #49429570. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Automated_edits.
Two years ago, I conservatively removed all phone booths that had a Belgacom/Proximus operator, and not everyone was happy even about that. See https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/M!dgard/diary/35474 .
Generally my thought is that there may be other phone booths besides those of Belgacom/Proximus. After your removal, this booth was *added*: https://osm.org/node/4818930493#map=18/51.25536/4.18894
Woodpeck also argued that seeing some out-of-date elements signal that an area needs some love. It might trigger locals to start mapping.

Hi Mitgard,
Thank you for your message.
Like others, I don't agree with the message of woodpeck, for me keeping known wrong data doesn't add to osm, it just wastes time for others contributors.
About that telephone you link, I'm pretty sure it was added by someone using Google Streetview, because it was a Belgacom telephone in 2010: https://goo.gl/maps/NehEoY2cH572
However, a few of them may actually be legitimate, so I think I'll just add a fixme tag requesting to check if those telephone booths still exist.
And there's actually a second changeset (although smaller): https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Tag:amenity%3Dtelephone#Removing_public_telephones_in_Belgium
Best regards,

By the way, I'd be interested to know how you stumbled across this changeset if not through the Telephone talk page.
I find the History "tab" useless because of large area edits polluting it (a known - major in my opinion - issue that doesn't seem close to getting fixed), so I don't know how to find deleted elements. -

Looking at my own diary post and running my query, I observed that all phones were gone. Overpass is able to search historic data, they call it "attic" data.
E.g.: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/pPW
Once I had such a node, I could see in which changeset it was deleted.
