Comment from NunoCaldeira
please be careful with your edits, you destroyed valuable information. you shouldn't delete elements like the pitch, gates. you added the ceiling as building structure destroying the 3D elements, which is incorrect. changeset will be reverted

inspected your account you are a user with 2 months old with 2000 edits. and you deleted 12000 elements! agaim, DO NOT DELETE elements ( 30% of your edits are deletes), DO NOT delete elements. will keep an eye, if not, will have to report your acount. if you have naydoubts on how to proceed, please ask to advise you. you are doing more arm than good to the map. Keep in mind most of these stadiums have 3D data in their elements for 3D view, and you are deleting them.

Hi Nuno, sorry for that, I stopped deleting elements. I will only do safe edits, if I have doubts, can I contact you to check my edits? By the way, I’m almost ready with all the stadium updates. My estimate is that I will be ready this tuesday with every update. I did over 98% of all edits I want to do. Can you please explain to me how I can see that I shouldn’t edit an object when it is part of a 3D element?

Comment from NunoCaldeira
You can read about 3D tagging schemes here https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/3D_tagging
You can check if a stadium has 3d elements at http://demo.f4map.com/ -
Comment from NunoCaldeira
Also read https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:building%3Dstadium make sure about the "relations" before editing,or else you are destroying detailed info

Comment from SomeoneElse
Re " I did over 98% of all edits I want to do." can you please explain what you _are_ trying to do? There are lots and lots of comments on http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=8570285 where people are saying that you are damaging their local stadiums that you have not replied to. Please stop editing now and take some time to read and reply to those comments that you have not acknowledged yet.

Comment from SomeoneElse
One more thing - I'd suggest adding "what you are trying to do" to your OSM profile so that people can see why you are making these edits.

Also, you write: »By the way, I’m almost ready with all the stadium updates. My estimate is that I will be ready this tuesday with every update.«
I substitute `finished' for `ready' as you have written in other comments.
Are you certain of that? Half a year ago I suspect it was you who anonymously opened hundreds of bug-report Notes worldwide to ask for name changes. More recently you opened many more such notes (if it was you ;-) asking for mapping improvements adding stands and such.
I was wondering where it would end. Just over a week ago I saw you resolved a bug-report with contents approximating ``Blow goo!!1!'' to be found at https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/1464870 -- but more importantly, that stadium is mapped with more detail than you have been adding, including the stairways -- steps that along with the other footpaths are missing from most of the other stadiums that are mapped.
Will there come a point where you would have asked through notes to add this detail, had you not in effect been forced to make the edits yourself (for which i am grateful), in which case i would expect you to be adding such detail yourself now.
.
also, I would urge you to take paul johnson's changeset advice and look into josm for editing. plus i do not recall seeing you use any other imagery than the default mostly offered by bing, which is generally pretty bad to really bad, particularly in the us of a where it appears as default despite better imagery for details often offered by mapbox.
just some helpful hints, i hope. -

this users needs to be ban. in 30 hours he done 156 changesets. if you compare the edits, its a mess, hes deleting multipolygon relations into simple "building=stadium" and then addin a pitch (which becomes hidden due to the lack of building inner). All his edits need to be reverted asap.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
seriously?? You don't have to ban me, please explain to me what I've done wrong with this building=stadium. Please explain this to me, then I'll fix all my erros.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Not all my edits have to be reverted. I did thousands of edits in the last months, and only around 30 have been reverted. I didn't get complaints about those others. Please tell me how I can fix my errors, and I'll fix every one of those.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I've added hundreds of stadiums which were completely missing, I've added thousands of missing houses. They don't have to be removed. Just give me a little time and I'll fix all my errors.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
as i mentioned, ONE THIRD of you edits are deletions. You shouldn't delete elements unless they dont exist any more, which im sure 95% of the ones you deleted still exist. Also, what's the database you are using to add these?
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
By the way, I only have to check around 40 stadiums for errors, like completely missing / missing names etc.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
again, what's the source or database for these?
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I don't delete those elements anymore, I didn't know that before. I did replace those deleted elements with other elements, please take a good look at those edits and you'll see.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I am a groundhopper, I've visited hundreds of stadiums. I also used Bing if the view is right.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
really? you deleted items on this changeset, which was done yesterday. some of which were added years ago.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
in the last 30 hours you deleted 500 elements in the map. 500!!!
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
SomeOne Else: That's okay, I will do that. Freebeer: Thank you very much for your usefull hints!
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
and when you make an edit dont use "stadium update". write details of what you did? change name, geometry, added entry, and so on. detailed information, not generic
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I deleted 500 elements? I only changed the shape of elements if the shape could be better. I didn't delete those elements.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Some stadiums were not drawn, imcompletely drawn, drawn before renovation works took place, drawn poor, had old stadium names (a lot of stadiums often change names with new sponsors). I didn't delete those 500 elements, please take a good look at my edits.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I changed the shape of those 500 elements, I didn't delete those.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Most of those were minor edits, like a part of the stand / building which was missing.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
as i said, in the last 30h you deleted >500 elements and modified 1179 elements. editing is deletions and modifications. deletion is deleting the elements, and you have done that number of deletions in the last 30h indeed.
-
Comment from Alecs01
I agree with Nuno, stadiaarcadia I appreciate your passion for stadiums, but you should stop your edits (already told you twice at least) until you just don't understand what you're doing. You are doing more damage than anything else, by far.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Okay I will stop now until I fully understand all my errors. I will fix everything, just give me a little time for that.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
The last 30 hours... You told me yesterday that I shouldn't delete that many objects, and after that (which means today) I didn't. I did replace those deleted objects with almost the same object in most cases. If it had valuable information, I took over the information or I didn't delete it.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
you shouldn't delete elements at all, unless they cease existence. you must edit them. and again, YES you did delete 500 elements in the last 30 hours. replacing means you deleted them, you SHOULD NOT DELETE, edit the existing ones.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I don’t do that anymore. I will stop editing now, I won’t change any stadiums anymore. I only have to check around 30 stadiums for ‘errors’ (missing stands, missing stadium names etc, can I ask someone else to edit these 30(?) stadiums when they contain errors or are incomplete? I will start fixing errors I’ve made. I’m going to check other edits of me for errors. Of those deleted elements, they are not actually ‘lost’ because I replaced those with the same elements, with a better shape and the same information.
-
Comment from NunoCaldeira
yes they are lost. thats why its CRUCIAL not to delete elements. Please read this https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Good_practice#Keep_the_history
Thats why you should not delete. and yes they are lost since you deleted then ad redone them, when you should have just edit them.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
I won’t delete anything anymore. I also understand the stadium tagging now. I will stop editing, but I will fix my errors, I’m going to check and fix my edits (please give me time for this) if they include errors. I’ve added thouaands of missing houses and hundreds of stadiums which were completely missing, I worked really hard on that because I wanted to help. I feel really bad about my mistakes, I hope you understand that I just wanted to help to add buildings to OSM. I really appreciate the feedback from all of you. Please give me time and I will fix the edits with errors.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
If I find a stadium with missing stands, a missing or wrong stadium name or something like that, is there someone I can mail who can do the stadium edits?
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Also please keep in mind that only a small amount of my edits contained deleted objects (almost all of those have already been reverted). At MetLife Stadium for example, I deleted hundreds of very small objects (yes that was stupid of me). Those have been reverted, and after that I changed the Giants Stadium the right way. This way, it looks like I deleted objects at hundreds of stadiums, but that's not the case. Only at a small amount of stadiums I deleted (often a lot) of objects, those have already been reverted and after that my edits at those stadiums were fine. Here you can see MetLife Stadium, I've made most of this stadium: https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=metlife%20stadium#map=18/40.81352/-74.07435
I've added most of those stadium sections with numbers.

Comment from stadiaarcadia
By the way NunoCaldeira, can you please explain "adding a pitch (which becomes hidden due to the lack of building inner)"? How can a building inner be placed the right way? If I know this, I can fix my edits with this error. I saw some pitches indeed aren't visible. I can't find the answer on the OSM Wiki.

Thank you!

Comment from NunoCaldeira
No problem, if you have more doubts let me know. Most of the information is on wiki. Regarding the multipolygon relation, check a few examples on the map and understand how it works before starting editing. There's also a couple of video tutorials on YouTube.
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Thanks again Nuno, I'm going to watch those tutorials. I have a doubt about this one, can you please check if I added "alt_name" the right way at this stadium: https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/62244989
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Can you please also check if my last edit at Estadio Campeón del Siglo in Montevideo is fine now? I've changed leisure tag into stadium tag and stadium tag into building tag. Is it good this way?
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Do you have some useful YouTube tutorials? I've found some, but not all of those are useful for me.
-
Comment from SomeoneElse
Just in case you're not aware, you can also ask questions about how to do things over at https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/ .
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Thanks! I've watched several helpful OSM tutorials now, a few minutes ago I did a test edit. Can anyone please check if this edit is completely without errors: https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit#map=18/8.89417/76.58889
I've added the right size of the hockey field with the stadium stand at the right location. I've also added various missing houses. Is it 100% okay this way?
-
Comment from stadiaarcadia
Hi, "Tribune Colombier" of Stade Raymond-Kopa now has the same size as "Tribune Coubertin". Is now has a square shape. The old stand has been replaced with a new one. Who can fix this? I'd really appreciate that. Thanks for the help already.

Comment from stadiaarcadia
Can anyone please check if my edit is without errors this way:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/62325475#map=18/39.64155/27.88770&layers=N
The stadium name is now correct. Can anyone please tell me if I've added both stadium roofs and the sports field the right way this way? If it contains an error, please let me know and I will fix it.
