About Me
Hi there! Welcome to my OpenStreetMap profile. I am an active contributor dedicated to improving map data, with a strong focus on local community infrastructure, detailed point-of-interest (POI) mapping, and humanitarian crisis response.
I believe that accurate maps empower communities, and I enjoy the fine details of mapping—from correcting misaligned buildings to ensuring local shop data is up to date.
Mapping Interests & Focus
My editing history covers a wide mix of urban details, road networks, and structural mapping. Here is a breakdown of what I usually focus on:
🛍️ Points of Interest (POIs) & Local Businesses
I love keeping the map fresh with local economic data. I frequently add, update, and refine: * Food & Drink: Restaurants, cafes, fast-food joints, tea stalls, and ice cream shops. * Shops: Everything from supermarkets, electronics, and stationery shops to specialized local spots like two-wheeler mechanics and motorcycle repair shops. * Essential Services: Pharmacies, clinics, ATMs, and places of worship.
🛣️ Infrastructure & Road Geometry
A good map needs solid foundations. I work on: * Adding micro-attributes like road surfaces, sidewalks, street lighting, and parking details (types, fees, and access). * Aligning displaced buildings and fixing geometry to match real-world imagery. * Determining accurate road names, types, and classifications.
🏛️ Civic & Community Spaces
I frequently map the social fabric of neighborhoods, including schools, community centres, libraries, government/administrative offices, and local cooperatives. I also look out for local history, like mapping abandoned buildings and active community spaces.
🌍 Humanitarian Mapping
When crisis strikes, open data saves lives. I am proud to contribute to remote humanitarian mapping efforts, including: * #hotosm-project-5500 (Cyclone Gaja, India): Worked on completing and validating local road networks to assist with disaster relief and recovery.
