Changeset: 115407267
Modify building type of GP-81 climbing gym to be climbing gym. Add tag alt_name: gp81 to hopefully make this gym searchable by the search query "gp81"

Hello.
Could you please elaborate why did you remove building tag here?

Hm, I didn't realize I removed the building tag. Using the OSM iD editor, I thought I was changing the type of this point from a Building to a more specific type of building, in this case a Climbing Gym. It looks like when I do this, it causes the "building" tag to be removed. I will re-add the tag.
It feels wrong for types to overlap (a point can be both a Building and a Climbing Gym, for exmaple) but for the iD editor to only allow one type to be selected. Do you know how I can reach out to the developers of iD to give them this feedback?

Sorry, I cannot figure out how to change the Feature Type tag to be Building again without removing the Climbing Gym tag.

iD developers are active on OSM World discord server. Or you can go directly to GitHub and open issue there. 👍

Also I already corrected the building tag.
If iD's temple doesn't let you add building tag, you can scroll down in the left panel until you see all the tags and manually enter what you need. Just need to pay attention what you enter there since no validation for errors. 🙂
